Content Advisory:

While this "School Edition" has been adapted for student performers, it remains a faithful retelling of Victor Hugo’s classic novel. Our story begins 16 years after the French Revolution and spans 1815 to 1832, culminating in the June Rebellion (or Paris Uprising) of 1832. It is a profound tale of redemption and the human spirit, but it does not shy away from the harsh realities of the era it depicts.

We encourage you to use your own discretion, should a member of your party have a sensitivity to the following:

suicide, loss of life, historical conflict/violence, exploitation of women, child neglect, depictions of poverty, emotional intensity, smoke, lighting effects, loud noises (including gunfire & other sound effects)

While these themes are present, the heavy moments serve to highlight a deeply beautiful story of forgiveness, resilience and hope. We understand that every audience member is unique, and we invite you to use this guide to ensure the best experience for yourself, and your guests.
